Key Benefits

Capabilities
We are able to duplicate virtually all of the original manufactures finishes.
- Re-engraving, Re-legend, or re-cut engraving
- Inquire -cost is on a per job basis but quite often merited .
- Hot caustic bluing
- The process used by most manufacturers for the last fifty years. We use the same
industrial process as most major arms companies. The key to a fine hot bluing job is in the
preparation. We are the most conscientious of shops in maintaining and preparing surfaces.
- Slow Rust Bluing - Browning
- The process used on most guns prior to the 30's. Still used on the finest doubles and
over and unders, as well as quite a few exceptional custom rifles. We still hand mix our
own formulas for rust processes to duplicate as nearly as possible the original
finishes. Twist and Damascus barrels are enhanced to bring out the figure the makers
intended to be seen. Rust finishes are very labor intensive but the results justify the
effort.
- Color Case Hardening
- The traditional finish for single action revolvers, double receivers, falling block and
lever action frames, as well as parts (levers , buttplate, hammers, etc) on many other long
guns and handguns. Bone pack hardening by traditional methods. After treatment we coat all
parts with a clear baking enamel to enhance colors and increase durability.
- Nitre Bluing
- Generally used as an accent. Small pins screws and parts are often finished by this
method. Used only where appropriate. A variation of this process is strawing - a golden
yellow finish used on specific parts. Again only used where appropriate.
- Arm-Mor
- We developed this finish through 6 years of research and testing. We
apply Black, Olive, and Graphite gray. We believe that it is near the
ultimate finish today for tactical, carry and foul weather guns. We are very
proud of this finish, low sheen, warm feel, and natural lubricity are its
main features, hardness and toughness make it wear better than most. I think
it is the best available. Check out the specs on our
Arm-Mor.com Site
- Teflon & Black T*
- This was our favorite finish until recently. We still do a good number
of these. I would suggest that you check out our
Arm-mor Firearm finish for a coating
that will stand up to the hardest use.
- Black-T* is a very attractive "warm" finish. Nice feel as well as very durable. Very useful
for carry weapons and duck guns -any weapon that is exposed to harsh environments.
May be
applied to almost any base metal. Ideal finish for blackening stainless steel and
aluminum. May be substituted for anodizing on aluminum and alloys.*Black T is
a registered trademark of Walter Birdsong and Co
- Cerracote- We have done some guns in the new ceracote finish,
there are better choices in our opinion.
-
- Wood Finishes
- Generally a hand rubbed oil finish using "pro custom oil " and our own
methods of prep and application .We are able to give many variations from an unfilled oil
finish appropriate on military and period rifles to the finest filled, hand rubbed
English type finish for the finest doubles.
